Project Description

Project Value: £1,045,000

WJL and Osborne have delivered multiple successful projects together resulting in preferred status on Osborne’s preferred supply chain. Our in house scheduling team are able to provide value engineered alternatives to specialist fire and acoustic rated doorset and ironmongery specifications, finding value engineering opportunities without compromising quality. This was our brief in this student accommodation block.

Through standardising and streamlining door types we were able to provide significant value gains for Osborne and in turn the client whilst still providing a fully specification compliant product. In addition we were able to take advantage of our in house manufacturing capability to provide receptions desks, wall linings and seating. Overall the scope was reasonably straight forward comprising largely doorsets but the programme on site was tight and solid project management through programming and sequencing was a must.

In the end, such was the success of the phase, WJL was awarded phase 2: the university library a far more complex bespoke project comprising feature staircase, acoustic baffles and balustrade linings and bespoke joinery, all made in house in our factory in Stoke on Trent. This went on to win RIBA awards both in the region and nationally.
