ACOUSTIC PANELLING

WJL has developed our own method of installation just as bespoke as the panels themselves. This means that rather than having to shoe horn an off-the-shelf product into your complex design concept, our design team can produce a custom installation which entirely meets your demands.

Our Echofade® acoustic panelling and Echofade® baffles provide a UK designed and manufactured alternative to more expensive continental European brands. They range from class B to class E absorption and our own fixing system means that we can manufacture and install with lead times far below those of our competitors, with replacement panels available in very short time.

All of our acoustic panelling and products are fully supported by testing carried out at the (UKAS accredited) Sound Research Laboratories in accordance with BSEN ISO 354-2003.

UKAS Accredited Acoustic Installations

We have installed our acoustic panelling products into lecture theatres, school halls (including sports halls), performance theatres, university buildings, libraries, atria within commercial spaces, reception spaces and even within hospitals! Anywhere where noise reduction might be required, we can help.

Utilising the results of our initial tests which were carried out using a sound absorption tube, WJL developed acoustic panels and baffles that were considered to be the most effective.

Our acoustic panelling was then measured for sound absorption by testing them at Sound Research Laboratories  (UKAS Accredited) in accordance with BS EN ISO 354:2003.  A comprehensive range of 6 types of acoustic panels and baffles were tested measuring the Absorption Coefficient of each of these systems. As a result of this testing, we are now able to provide a range of products with varying Absorption Coefficients classified from B to E.

Testing Results and Types of Product

Echofade® Acoustic Panelling

Our Echofade® acoustic panels are manufactured from 18mm solid core board on a newly installed, state of the art, CNC machine. The panels are beautifully complimented by a solid timber framing on all edges.

Echofade® Acoustic Baffle Systems

Our top selling style is our very own acoustic baffle, called Echofade®. Independently tested, it is a slatted panel, generally in oak, which can be adjusted in design to achieve the required levels of acoustic absorption. It is manufactured here in the UK, and replacement panels are easy to get in the event of damage.

Hit and miss Solid timber Echofade® baffles or slats are manufactured to a 44mm x 32mm finished size. The timber slats are then pre-assembled in manageable sized panels via a secret fixing system on to split battens to ensure an accurate and rapid fit once site is ready for installation.

Acoustic Ceilings

Through our CAD team, we can assist with the design and take complete control of the manufacturing/installation of your one-off design projects. Nothing off the shelf, everything made to order.

Our Echofade® products have been developed to provide acoustic solutions for schools, offices, theatres, lecture rooms, and any building where noise absorption and sound reduction is required.

All of our systems are supplied with supporting acoustic test certificates and offer an innovative alternative to sound absorption products such as Gustaf, Soundsorba, Topakustik, and BCL.

Acoustic Walls

WJL employs a design team vastly experienced in solving complex design issues where decorative timber acoustic panels are required to deliver specified levels of sound absorption. The panels are manufactured in our Stoke-on-Trent workshop and installed by our teams of fitters. All by us, cradle to grave.

WJL can provide a variety of styles and finishes all designed to achieve agreed levels of absorption. Whether its perforated veneered panels matched across the elevation, or our most popular solid/veneered oak slat on a slotted backboard with coloured/black fabric – we call it Echofade®. The choice is yours.

Typically insulated sound absorption can be applied to walls as well as ceilings. There are many ways this can be achieved, all designed to reduce the reverberation in your space.

Seddon would personally like to put on record our gratitude to WJL for the amazing turnaround of the specialist joinery items on the project and to be able to achieve the very tight programme dates to enable Seddon to achieve Practical Completion on the Westcliffe Extra Care project.

We have been working with Winston Joinery/WJL since 1996 & during that time they have produced some fantastic items of joinery for us & there professionalism has been consistent throughout that time.

Michael Buckingham, Contracts Director, DMB Carpentry & Joinery Ltd
WJL provided good & thorough input into the scheduling of door-sets, ironmongery and instillation programme. Quality if installation was of a very high standard, especially in the refurbished area which had its unique challenges requiring traditional carpentry skills.
Neil Jefferies, Project Manager, Osborne Construction
